Sand Tray
“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.”
— Carl Jung
Sand play is a wonderful tool to explore feelings, imagination, experiences and insight, and to support engagement in play. Sand play not only includes sensory supports; it often is used, too, in trauma work with children (and even adults). It is an evidence-based method that has been shown to increase emotional expression and to reduce psychological stress from traumatic experiences. It also can be viewed as an integration of play and art therapy.
