WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of the present without judgement or fear. Goals of mindfulness include increased regulation, calmness, better sleep, increased self esteem, connectedness, and healing.
For the sake of this group, mindfulness activities may include crafting, music, art, and movement. Activities will always move at your pace - we want you to feel safe and comfortable!
WHY CRAFTING?
In our sense of the word, crafting is simply creativity. Creativity supports self-esteem, emotional resilience, and helps reduce stress and anxiety. Do you need to be skilled or an expert to be creative? No! Doodling, collaging, coloring pages, or simply painting strokes on a blank page all have creative benefits towards your mental health. Similar to Art Therapy, our Craft and Heal Support Group is designed to support your cognitive function, self-management skills, regulation, and coping skills to manage stressful life events and transitions.

Consistency is key in making sustainable progress. Consistency is also very important in a group setting as the members benefit from each other. It is encouraged that you commit to all of the sessions. However, we understand that things happen. It is this groups agreement that you do not miss more than 1 session.
In terms of this groups cancelation policy - members are allowed 1 cancelation, made 24 hours in advance, aside from certain extenuating circumstances. Cancelations made less than 24 hours or missed sessions will result in a $45 ‘no show’ or ‘late cancelation’ fee.
